"Grace: Divine love and protection bestowed freely on people. A
disposition to be generous or helpful. Mercy. A favor rendered by one who need not do
so."One question people ask of themselves
time and time again is, "If God is so wonderful, why do I have all these
problems?" On a daily basis people come to our web site seeking help and healing
for their physical, financial, and emotional situations.
As far back as I can remember I read inspirational stories where one is given hope that
"if God be with them" then all obstacles can be overcome. I always thought of a
God outside of myself to whom I could pray, but if prayer wasn't answered "I must be
doing something wrong". Now, after having received some spiritual enlightenment on
the nature of God as being everything - God is being all things at all times
- I realize the balance of what appears to be "bad" and what appears to be
"good" is one and the same activity.
Adversities are part of the human scene. They are part of the balance, just as
the return of a bounced ball is on the same path as its forward motion, only reversed. And
the velocity is always equal to the pressure of the hit. However, there is a point in the
middle, between the forward and reverse, where the ball's energy is motionless, regardless
of its intensity. This principle is also true of human situations.
With each seeming adversity comes an equal seeming reward until eventually the balance is
created in oneness, in stillness, in peace. With this balance comes spiritual
understanding.
Bob and I have recently been experiencing a situation where additional spiritual growth is
undoubtedly in process. Here is what Bob stated only a few nights ago in a letter to
someone.
"During my recent physical setback from minor complications
from heart surgery last year, I did what I have done for tens of years when I feel
disconnected from the Source. I asked God what I could do to rid myself of the physical
pain and confusion. Halfway between the beginning and ending of the word confusion, came
the word "GRACE" as an answer. I had been living by God's grace
for years, but now the word took on a new meaning."
He expounds further:
"Grace, being an activity, is not
limited to God bestowing goodness upon us. Grace is when the activity of God works through
us, bestowing goodness upon everyone in our experience, whether they have earned it or
deserve it. Since there is only ONE and some of the parts of that ONE are human beings, it
is impossible not to GIVE unto the ONE without giving unto all that make up the ONE. With
this understanding, love is given freely to those who do not love us, things are given to
those who do not show appreciation, understanding is given to those who cannot understand,
and help is given to all unaware. When we do this, we may not get something in return from
the person, but the reflection of what we give always returns.
Changing from our will to Divine will requires only Trust. When we are
in trouble of some kind, it is easy to say "Thy will be done", but when things
are going perfect, we want to believe we are in charge and our will is
done. A mortgaged home is only ours in thought and feeling. The home actually belongs to
the mortgage company. So why does everyone say they "own" their home? The
mortgage company gives a way for you to own your home just as God gives you a way to
utilize His will until it becomes yours through the enlightenment that "I and my
Father are one" or "The kingdom of God is within you", or that "I AM
means God is being you and never you are being God."
People sometimes feel their spiritual advancement has been the cause of separation from
the connectivity to family and friends, and the loneliness that often follows. To this
situation Bob explains:
"In a heightened state of enlightenment,
we do not need to satisfy anyone, but if satisfaction or "need" is received by
others it is because we are being all the spiritual qualities we possess and if someone
feels "needed or accepted" is it because they are in our presence. The
reflection is what we become aware of, not the return of something. All they could ever
want from us is felt invisibly and therefore has no need for return. It is not given to
them because they deserve it or have earned it, it is their own gift to themselves in the
form of an invisible understanding.
With so many flowers in the world, there has never been anyone who has wanted to keep just
one, or even a few, for themselves forever. With the feeling one gets from a flower, that
feeling, if understood, is seen and felt in all flowers and all things in their
experience. Then I know that what I see as beauty in the world does not need me for its
beauty and I do not need it to see the beauty. All I see is God and God is all I see. God being
is manifested in everything. The sun does not warm our bodies because it needs to satisfy
us. It only does it because it is being the sun and we derive that benefit from it by
being exposed to it."
Everything that comes from Bob is "pure water",
direct from the source - uninfluenced by any other teaching or books. Years ago he told me
he did not want to be persuaded by others, but to find his own truth from within. It is in
adversity that truth is revealed. And, it will be in your adversity that truth will be
revealed to you.
One cannot stop the sun from shining. One cannot stop the flowers from exposing their soul
to the passersby. When the sun is not felt there is a reason. It may be shining on the
other side of the earth or it may be blocked by clouds but the sun is still as vibrant as
ever. Flowers bloom for no apparent reason - in the middle of the desert or from a crack
in a concrete sidewalk, totally unnoticed. And when one discovers some small,
insignificant flower, it becomes that person's instant revelation of beauty.
Grace is the activity of God giving, with no expectations. Grace is the activity of God
giving when no one deserves it. The activity of grace flowing within one's life can be had
by our manifestation of God's activity - and the holding within one's consciousness the
whole of mankind.
All is well.
