Leaving The World's Concepts by Gail Gupton A friend of mine has related numerous times that I'm naive when it comes to the 'world' - that I don't see the fears and dangers lurking in the world!! Oh, I see the world alright. But, I have to remember "My kingdom is not of this world". This statement rang true for me every time I would visit an original Goldsmith student years ago. It was one of her favorite statements. The spiritual world is so much better to be a part of than this humanistic fear-trodden, negative, pessimistic picture I see around me. Watching the news the other night was a notice that doctors have been telling us the sun is bad for us. But now they say the sun is good for us because the skin absorbs vitamin D from the sun. See how the world waffles between beliefs?! And, isn't it so much better to see beyond all that? "I am in the world, but not of it" is another statement to ponder. Goldsmith students have read this Truth many times. To be free from the effects of the conditions and situations of the world is peaceful. One does not have to be effected by the beliefs of others when one holds to the Truth of being one with God. God appears as all things, as the substance of all form - but only to those who know the nature of God, which is perfection. Everything is happening exactly as it's supposed to for the evolution of mankind. The flowers come and fade. The tides go in and out. Life is forever changing and that's part of the script of life. We do not control it . . . . one only can observe it. Joel has said one must not argue Truth. So I let my friend think whatever he wants to think about me and about the horrific on-goings in the world today. I just smile. One day we all wake up and his time is not here yet. You probably have friends similar to mine. To see the Christ in each one can be a blessing in disguise to them. They entertain 'angels unaware'. Concepts of God are numerous. Concepts of right and wrong - good and bad - are numerous. But still they are concepts (opinions, imagination, ideas, etc). Ask someone "What is your concept of the opposite sex?" and you'll get many opinions - none of them spiritually true. Isn't it spiritual Truth one desires? To know God? To experience the presence of God? Then one must throw away his/her concepts and let God reveal itself in that 'still small voice' we read about. Meditation is one key to spiritual realization. Meditation is one key to establishing a connection with God. Meditation is one key to the peace that 'passeth all understanding' (Phil 4:7). One key opens many doors!! All is well. |
