LOGICAL EXPLANATIONS, by Gail Gupton
"Be ye therefore perfect; . . . "

While in college, many many years ago, I took a course in Logic. I took it, not because I was majoring in psychological courses, but because I needed another class and it was easy. Logic seemed liked common sense to me. After all, if A + B = C, then it was only logical that C - A = B. Or so the theory went.

Logic was simply a principle to be understood and the principle was not something to happen in the future but a fact, or truth, applicable on a daily basis. Every statement has a logical principle just as every question has a logical answer, right now.

When I woke up one morning with the words, "Be ye therefore perfect, even as your Father which is in heaven is perfect", I started contemplating the statement in logical manner. This is how it went:

1. Therefore: The first word that came alive in my thought and which means 'because of'. Per Roget's New Millennium Thesaurus, First Edition."accordingly, and so, consequently, ergo, for, forasmuch as, hence, in consequence, inasmuch as, since, so, then, thence, therefrom, thereupon, thus, whence, wherefore".

2. Ye: Everyone knows the word is Olde English from the Bible and literary writings. The word meant 'myself' when pondered upon. "you, me, I".

3. Be: Always present tense; "abide, act, be alive, breathe, continue, do, endure, go on, have being, have place, hold, inhabit, last, live, move, obtain, persist, prevail, remain, rest, stand, stay, subsist, survive" - again from Roget's Thesaurus. This is an active verb.

4. Perfect: Immaculate, supreme. Without blemish or any negative quality.  Allness. Completeness. Wholeness. Everything that God is.

Simply put, the statement became alive, in present tense, to speak directly to me. Because my Father lives in the kingdom of heaven within me, I am perfect. Be ye therefore perfect translates to 'therefore, ye be perfect'. As in college logic, the rearranged words have a sensible conclusion.

This truthful statement applies to every person, every living thing that inhabits the earth. It is not something to strive for, as it already exists in present tense, only to be realized.

In the majority of cases, society believes Bible statements were made for only a given time or spoken as promises for a future time. Now is the only time there is. Now is the day people are waking up. "Now is the day of salvation", the Bible proclaims. When is the time for realizing the truth? Now. Only now.

Jesus reminded us of the truth over and over with everything he spoke to his disciples. When he healed people, he was understandably knowing the truth about the person and the person who received the healing was receptive to that truth. In all probability the person was void of religious programming that's prevalent in today's society, yet all the while being ignorant of their oneness with God until Jesus came along.

Once a person's consciousness has been touched by Truth, their life changes. But for those who debate the truth and reject it, one's life logically continues to bear the strain of trial and tribulation.

Truth is true for all generations. It never varies or fluctuates. The truth of man's perfect oneness with God needs only to be brought to a conscious awareness level such as was given through the parables and demonstrations shown to the world by Jesus.

With contemplative prayer and meditation, you can come to your own logical conclusions of the Truth of being. You are perfect because God is. How much more simple can it be?

All is well.
