Father & Son  by Gail Gupton

From my earliest recollections of growing up, we always had a piano or organ in our home. My mother gave lessons.

I specifically remember some sheet music she would play from, entitled "Prayer". The lyrics were partially that 'Prayer is to realize new birth. It is the touch of Truth upon all pain, all grief, all care . . . It is to realize that God and man are one, Father and son."

Throughout my adult years those lyrics would often come back to me, like playing a chorus tune over and over in my head. Only these had just been words during that time - familiar words, nonetheless - comforting words, perhaps - even potentially unassuming words.

Now, all these years later, I realize the Truth in those powerful lyrics - the Oneness of Father and Son (mankind) and it has become a mainstay in my life.

"That God and man are ONE." Think about it. Isn't that what Jesus proved with his birth? Isn't that what Jesus proved with his resurrection? Wasn't that the whole message of Jesus? To realize the Christ within, to awaken to that spiritual Truth that lives in the kingdom within is something you never forget and can never lose once it grabs you.

Just as one doesn't have to go back to 3rd grade to remember how to write in cursive, neither should one have to continuously study books once that realization occurs. Everyone reading this newsletter wants that uplifting feeling of Oneness with our Infinite Father.

I can't tell you when it will happen; only that when you're ready, you'll know. The invisible pull within, that tugging deep within your soul to read, study, contemplate, practice something of the spiritual nature; that is your guide leading you to that final peace that passes understanding.

Ah, now there's a word: UNDERSTANDING. Many people tell me they understand spiritual content on an intellectual level or they understand it in theory but still can't make that important connection. I was that way, too. At least, I thought I understood. From an early age I felt that pull to absorb like a sponge until one day in the not-too-distant-past it all just clicked and I don't even remember when or how. But the peace of God that passeth all understanding (Phil 4:7 ) came upon me and has never left. How can it? It's INFINITE.

This is a different type of newsletter. I've often thought perhaps it's time to stop writing it after four years. Joel Goldsmith said in his later years, "My song has been sung."

I ask myself, "What can I write that I haven't already said dozens of other ways?" It's the same message . . . God and man are ONE . . . Father and son. That means you, regardless of gender, race, age, nationality, education, background, profession, or beliefs.

We have the Truth within us. Inspirational writings are only reminders of what we already know; spiritual knowledge that's been buried from generations of blind belief. We read something, we hear something, we observe and contemplate and meditate. Then, in the blink of an eye, we 'get it'. A click occurs. A dawning of light seeps through our pores and out for others to see. God doesn't do anything; we've just had a realization that only God is. Oh, happy day!

All is well.
